Caroling caroling through the rain....

Merry Christmas everyone! :D

Met up with Liping and Willy yesterday, gathering cum Christmas celebration...
Forgot to take pics with you guys.. :(
Thank you Willy for the present and treat! Nice meeting up with you and Liping! Thank you gal for the long chat too! I enjoyed it very much.. :)
And luckily we went to Dhoby Ghaut instead of Orchard...haha...but heard that many people met many people coincidentally @ Orchard/Somerset, like Jiechao saw Wheegeok, Irene saw Zhengxin..so happening and interesting..haha!

Caroling was officially over!!! I felt very grateful to those who came to help us, especially the current batch juniors who had just graduated...and a few others whom I have mentioned in the ajalumnichoir blog le...shall not repeat here.. :)
Without them we would be in deep shit..haha..not enough people plus not enough voices plus no conductor! I can't imagine that happening to us...heng we got Nadiah and Jing Kang who came to conduct us for the 4 days...thanks guys! :D

Some pics during and before/after caroling!

Liping and I...bo sia (no more voices) liao...sing till voice become screechy...yucks..

From left to right --> Jingkang, Qing wen and Gerald Paul Tan! Jingkang is our cute little junior cum conductor! And my SN pals, Gerald on the right is our History teacher Mrs Lily Tan's son! He told me that Mrs Tan saw my pic and told him that she taught me before! SO QIAO rite? OMG, she looks so young lor.. JC cum choir junior..super super qiao...

Taken on the first day of caroling..everytime we'll sing till we perspire, machiam just ran for 3 rounds on the track lidat..haha..conductors were worst..especially Jing Kang..he will 'rain' everytime he conducts...same as Jiechao..wahaha!

Nadiah our conductor is on the right..with Sze Mun in the middle and the gal in turqoise top on the left...dear SN gang..she's Long Ziling's sister Zinuan! :D
I seem to have the affinity with people's sons or sisters etc..haha..

Us singing!

Jing Kang and Gerald Paul again! Do you think he looks like Mrs Tan?

Peiying Da Jie and I! She's our president and she has done MANY things for the choir..big and small..seriously, we can't survive without her...

Liping and my les partner Wheegeok! They are both my close friends in choir cum fellow sops! Love them very much! :D

Huiting is my sop junior too, too bad she can only join us for the first 2 nights..a very cute and bubbly gal, missed her too...

On the second last day of performance!

Geok, I, Jiemin and Christina..an alto junior of ours.. :)

Us again..haha..this time Jiemin helping us take pic...

Py: TMD! Lao niang say 'two' who dare to say 'one'?!
Geok: Py
Me: Geok,

Geok: take photo, must show some signs of joy..hee..yay...
Me: Cheh, your expression salah la..lidat where got happy?? Must smile from your heart.. like this: :D

The juniors are helping Jing Kang to wrap his sweets as Christmas presents..haha..

Loh Wei and Jiechao! The 2 intellectuals in our choir..always talking about finance and accounting and even...Lao Zi...(Jiechao is the one studying Laozi)..haha

Rare guest singers: medical doctor-to-be Shawn (in the middle) and phD doctor-to-be cum super sop Yanting! Plus Chee Guan at the side and 3 of them were caroling (with harmonisation) in chipmunk voice... Very cute! haha..

Us caroling! You can never spot me..cos I'm not even in the pic! wahaha..

Our 2 little cute sop juniors Meirong and Jiahui! She's the 4th Jiahui I knew already..LOL
Sorry to other Jiahuis..hee

Us on the 4th day! And the last day too... :(

At first I really felt tired to carol over and over again for 4 consecutive days. Imagine sing the same songs over and over again, at outdoors with cigarette smoke entering our nostrils and mouth and throat and then we sing...it really sucks..together with the sweat, and the worsening screeching voices we get over the days of singing..plus the high heel shoes hurting my bunion, making it red and swollen and painful..plus changing in and out of the costume plus putting on makeup everyday...
There are lots to complain, but I can overlook all these, all because of the joy and fun and love I get from the members..singing was actually fun too, bringing joy to the shoppers..especially when you see people stopping and listening to us, clapping for us, and even cheering for us...or even STALKING us! Yes we encountered a female stalker who listened to us twice on the same day and almost followed us back to our resting area..LOL..minus the disgusting smoke, the hot weather, the lousy sound system (but the uncles who helped us were nice and friendly)..etc..
It's really a great experience.. :)

Singing rocks my life, but singing with the choir...rocks it even more..a lot more..haha..hopefully in the years ahead, we can still be as bonded and our passion for singing will never die...

YOU GUYS ROCK!
Cya on 28th at Loh Wei's house! :D
After that, 就后会有期了... :)

Some videos of us caroling..enjoy the carols! :D

Fun fun fun!

Ho ho ho! Christmas is coming the goose is getting fat...please put a penny in the old man's hat...

Have been caroling for 2 days and these carols are stuck in my head, together with Jay Chou's 彩虹..haha..a bit no link hor?

Met up with the SN gang yesterday for movie and Korean food..Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium...hmm..the show is ok but perhaps I'm too tired and I yawned a few times..and I was shocked when I saw my dear gf YY cried beside me! wahaha..I still think Alvin and the Chipmunks is nicer...haha...this show is ok but the ending is quite abrupt..we were like, "Huh? End liao ah?" And the Indian boy behind us (can tell from his accent) was saying, "finished already?" haha..

Oh and the Korean food is nice! It's at Chinatown. And we had a xmas present-exchange session!!!

Our gifts from each other to each other! haha...

Food!!!

We spent quite some time discussing what to do for our chalet at the end of the year..haha..so funny...seems so 痛苦 to even plan playing!haha...
Qiu, ailing, lia and June went to play mahjong, while yy and I left for our own appointments...so I went to North Point for the second caroling session!

The place was damn smoky and that makes our throats super dry! Nevermind..I've learnt the tactic of breathing through my nose fast while singing instead of through the mouth...so my throat won't get SO dry..hee...
Anyway, we've got good conductors! Nadiah and Jingkang aka kachua (cockroach)! haha..
The juniors were very supportive and they came to sing with us, I felt so glad! And they are definitely not the shy type who are afraid of seniors or siam from us..the first meeting and we all get high liao! Hope they will continue to sing with us.. :)
I will definitely miss them once caroling is over..
Caroling is definitely shag but singing with the choir is really enjoyable and satisfying..really love all my friends..

So happy that we are going to have a gathering soon!
BBQ with the choir, class outing with AJ 21/02 class, chalet with the SN gang, meet-ups with Libing and Keelee, gathering with the NUS Chinese people..etc...

How I wish the hols wont end so fast.......

Don't know what I will do without friends... :P

Presents and sweets that I had received on Thursday! From Ailing, Nadiah, Emelia, Zinuan, and a little pic of qiu, yy and I which is not inside..hee...thx gals! Love you all! :D

The stupid blister on my index finger..feels so tempting...maybe I should just get a needle and poke it soon...haha...

‘It’s easy to have happy moments with someone,
but it is finding someone who would work out the not so happy moments that is the most crucial thing in a relationship.’

BBQ time!

Had a great BBQ with the CL(aka Chinese Lang) gang yesterday...
I just realised I'm the only Chinese Studies major around...please correct me if I'm wrong...haha!

Caren organised the BBQ, and it was held at Pasir Ris park...
We arrived at 4 to wait for the BBQ wholesaler to bring us the food, and it was drizzling, so some of us sat under the shelter and chit chat...
And some other group of kids were playing music from their handphones, yes kids, I think we were the oldest group of YOUTHS there...wahaha!
EVERYONE was shocked to see my new hairstyle...and they all thought something happened to me..haha..
Nah, no special reason for wanting to cut hair...felt like cutting eons ago, just that I'm waiting for my perm to last longer..haha..extend its worth mah..haha!

Anyway, I started the fire! :D With the help of the only male --> Raymond and the girls of course..who were constantly looking at me working seriously to get the damn fire started, haha..and trying to help to fan, get starters etc..and of course, 苦口婆心地 warn me to be careful with my hands...
and stupid me really got burnt..by a harmless-looking black charcoal which I thought was a new piece (the tongs sucks so I would prefer to use my hands as much as possible). So I ended up with a sore index finger on my right hand...
*sob sob*

Sorry for taking so long to start the fire people! :P
And thank you heaven for stopping the rain in time for all of us who were BBQ-ing there! :D

More pics

Caren and Raymond serious at work...eh..dun act serious lor..haha!

Look at the sizzling smoke!
The first fire we had was basically hot red amber..not much fire at all..but food was great, cos it wont 'chao-ta', (turned charcoal)..haha...(trying to find excuse for lousy and small fire...

I took super long to start the 2nd fire..but patience is rewarding...the fire was just nice..great for cooking satay! :D

Me and my burnt finger and charcoal-plated hands.. yay.. :)

Stingrays and sotongs! Yum!!

After 4 years...

Before:

After:

I CUT MY HAIR!
Ok, I may look nicer with long hair..but I really felt quite refreshed and happy after cutting my long but super cui (cannot make it, damn dry and crispy) hair... :D
And, I felt more like myself..perhaps permed hair still doesn't suit me, too sophisticated and gentle..haha..I still prefer to be a tomboy.. :)

Haro Tanpoon has officially evolved! :D

Anyway, some pictures taken over the weekend..

Went to Little India to gai gai with my mummy on Friday...My FIRST time to Little India..Am I a Singaporean?!

Performance at SICC (Singapore Island Country Club) on Saturday night...
goodbye to my long hair...

End of the performance! :D

Busy gai-gai week

Wah, I didn't realised that I did not blog for a week...oops..
Was out since Saturday...almost every day...
I went for choir pracitce, went to Arab St, went to Chinatown Ten Dollar KTV, went to watch 3 movies, went to do a bit of shopping, and most importantly, met up with friends... :D

Let's talk about the movies..

《色·戒》was...slow...like me..haha..it's really like a 艺术片...the feel...hmm...knowing about the author, aka Eileen Chang Ai Ling, and the historical background and the relationship between Shanghai and Hong Kong during the Second World War period helped me to understand the show a little better, but most importantly, it made my imagination of the Old Shanghai became true! I've always imagined how Shanghai looked at that time, or rather, earlier in the 1930s during the modern Chinese Lit lessons..the pictures that the teachers showed us weren't enough. But through this show, I got the chance to look at a proper, operating 电车 (bus), and a cafeteria (although I wasn't sure if that was the kind that the authors then loved to go), and beautiful cheong sums worn by the actresses...Ok I think only Chinese people will understand what I mean..no fun wan...
Wang Lee Hom seems quite extra in the show actually, I feel, it's like, the male version of a 花瓶 (vase)...
Ya, talking about the ahem, sex scenes (Yes I went to watch the R21 version, and it's my 1st R21 show since I turned 21), they actually made me felt quite disgusted...I think the way they shot it, it's supposed to be 唯美, but I think because Tony Leong was supposed to be violent and a little psycho, they didn't turn out to be that 美 afterall...haha...ya, and it's meant to be not a good experience for the 'couple' in the show, cos of his psychopathic mindset...i.e., to torture the girl...And I really really admire the girl's (Tang Wei) guts to be the female lead...really...

Enchanted!

Nice and sweet show, and Nad and Peiying are right, the theme song just stays in your head...
-True Love's Kiss-
"I've been dreaming of a true love's kiss
And a prince I'm hoping comes with this
That's what brings everaftering so happy
And that's the reason we need lips so much
For lips are the only things that touch
So to spend a life of endless bliss
Just find who you love through true love's kiss

Usually girls like fairytales..I am a girl... :P

Alvin and the Chipmunks!

They are super cute! Especially the shortest and the fattest one, who's called Theodore! My favourite show out of the 3...Enchanted is nice but it is very typical..
At first I was still wondering what kinda story can the chipmunks have, and it turned out to be nice! I love their singing! Didn't know they are an accapella group...
"Don't cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me"...wahaha..in chipmunk voice ok..
Spongebob squarepants!
Ok, I'm talking nonsense here already, you gotta catch the show before you understand what I'm saying... :D

And I finally bought my black, closed-toe heels for choir performance! Hope they don't kill my legs... :S

And Jiahui, Bon Voyage! Have fun in US and Canada! Hope to see you in a month's time! Take care!

I wanna go overseas!!!!

To my dear friend tlp

Hey gal, this song is dedicated to you, if you ever come and read my blog.. :)
And to those friends who finds comfort in this song..

Cheer up friends, life is full of ups and downs, but these are what constitute life too, right? Thanks to whatever we have faced, they make us grow up eventually..willingly or unwillingly.. :)

Random Rantings

Being stuck at home for 3 days without stepping out of my house, isn't really boring, cos I know how to self-entertain! I really know how to WASTE TIME..till now, I haven't even started watching 《换换爱》lor...I got the show just before the exams already..hiaks..

Being stuck at home for 3 days without stepping out of my house made me know how to differentiate The Powerpuff Girls! Now I finally know who is Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup..cos I watch it everyday! Every weekday from 12.30pm on Kids Central.. :D
And the episode I watched yesterday was damn hilarious..Blossom tried to speak Cantonese! "This is a boy"; "Char Siew Bao" etc...but I don't understand, they called it "conversational Chinese"..but it's actually Canto..I guess the Chinese there mostly speak Canto...but can we called a dialect "conversational Chinese"? :S)
I think maybe the Chinese Language majors can answer..Caren, please explain if you know..thanks..haha..

Oh anyway I was talking to a friend I made when I interned for Wanbao, she's from my batch, currently in NUS Biz Yr 4, and she's married! I mean, she ROMed this year! OMG..super kua zhang for me, to think I don't even have a bf before..strictly speaking..
Ya I know some girls my age who are not studying are already married with kids..so there's nothing much to 大惊小怪的...but still...cos we are still students mah, so I'm still a bit stunned la..haha..
I can foresee that I will receive letters from SDU next time after I graduate, but I guess I would rather remain single than to attend their functions..wahaha..

Oh, and does anyone know how much does an air ticket cost if I wanna travel from Taiwan to Shanghai? (via HK or elsewhere of course) :)
Planning for grad trip! I want to go Taiwan and Shanghai! (provided I haven't 倾家荡产..haha)

Events during the term..

Haha..couldn't think of a proper title for this post..usually I can't think of a proper one anyway...

I went to attend my cousin's 21st birthday party on Sat 24th Nov, AFTER MY FIRST PAPER...haha
And I stayed on at the chalet till Sun night..haha..
And I went to ARCADE and BOWLING too...played the stupid machine where you're supposed to insert a token strategically in order for the gadget to push the existing tokens inside the machine out so that you can get more tokens..understand what I mean? Sorry if you don't, cos my English sux..let alone describe.. (that's why in sec sch I prefer to do expository essays than descriptive or narrative essays, cos I can't write an essay beautifully, haha)
Ya anyway, the cute thing is, even my grandma was interested to try! She threw in a token and ONE token came out! That's fantastic for an 80+ yr-old woman already ok..haha

My grandma playing!

My baby niece! The youngest one..so hard to take pics with babies.. :S

Emelia's birthday on 12th November!
Some pics:

The birthday girl and her cakes and present!

Us! :)

And I saw this video on Facebook today...I feel painful and embarrassed for them..OUCH!

Finally I see freedom!!!

YAY! EXAMS ARE OVER! Still got one more sem though...

Haha..and the moment I typed "Exams are over"...many things pop into my head...

I need to start thinking about what modules to take next semester...

Should I do ISM?

If I wanna do, I need to look for a teacher to supervise me and most important of all, I need to think of a topic to write my thesis...

I need to consider what kinda job do I wanna do...

Do I wanna be a teacher? If so I need to start applying liao...for the 1-year contract in teaching...

Or...should I try the media sector? It's been my little wish to be a DJ...haha...

Haiz...time's running out...

But anyway, exams are over! But I don't have much confidence this semester actually, and especially.. As a girl with rather low self-esteem, this semester had been very very dreadful...
I've faced super heavy workloads (as usual I can't get them all done), I've faced 2 deaths within 2 weeks, I've faced 5 presentations..(it's a lot for me!)...etc...don't know cry how many times liao..haha..but, it's all over...
This semester is over and I really hope next semester will be a better one...
Jia You!!

Will try to post some pics up soon... :D

2 more days to the start of my 1st paper...

Hmm..what shall I talk about?
Haha...blogging for the sake of blogging...and sian-ness..

Tired...eyes tired, brain tired, body tired...
just 2 more weeks, and I will be free! But only temporarily la...
Oh, and there are pics..some birthday pics with my sec sch frens..and pics of my niece and myself! haha..I look like auntie..but..they will be posted....sometime later I think...now..lazy to upload to my com and blogger la...

I'm supposed to be pia-ing like nobody's business! My progress is darn slow and I only left 2 days to my 1st paper!!! And still got 1 paper to hand in on Friday! But only left editing so should be alright..heh..

Although I should be busy studying, I managed to watch 1 hr of TV a day..haha..watching the 《楚汉相争》 nowadays..and I realised...the army spies in the past, were even more efficient and effective than the 狗仔队s that we we have now lor..

Now know why I can't do well for exams already? My brain is full of lame thoughts, can't even settle down and concentrate on my studies...how to do well?! I feel like those naughty kids on TV, always kena scoldings cos they just wanna play and can't focus on their studies...just that I don't get scoldings..haha...the 'angel' in me is scolding me though... oops... =P

Aiyo..when I logged in to Blogger I got a bit of shock..the whole page was in Chinese..
I know I'm a Chinese major so I should be used to reading Chinese la..but hor..don't do that to me mah..I'm still used to using English in terms of computer interface mah..
Worse, my NUS email uses Chinese interface too! Hello! Chinese major means everything must be in Chinese meh? But my other friends' email is also in English leh..why mine so unique?
Anyway..it's been 4 years..so I shall stop complaining about it...

Today I don't know if I'm heng or suay...studying in Woodlands library with Irene now..and I almost lost my laptop when we went for lunch!!! :S
We went to eat Pasta Mania and I left my laptop on the seat beside me..and I happily walked away without noticing that my hands were so empty..till we went back to the library, when I saw the wire den I realised...BLUR ME RIGHT? Bo bian lor..I RAN (Yes I ran) back to Pasta Mania and asked the waiter there..heng ah..they kept it for me... PHEW...
The thing is..a few Tuesdays back in school, I left my hp in NUS lib before going for lunch with Hiannie and Irene at Munchie Monkey..I realised my hp was gone and I RAN (Yes I ran too) back to Central Library...(it's quite far lor..and there's like N flights of stairs!) heng ah..it was still at the same spot where I left it..the gal at the computer was quite honest..she just left it there..maybe waiting for me to go back and take...

OK, and conclusion...today is Wednesday right? Irene and I bought 4D for the dates that I ALMOST lost my hp and laptop... WAHAHA!
Pray hard that we will dio 4D! HUAT AH!!

PS: Chee guan di di, I blog liao hor..dun say I never update k...LOL

2 nice songs

Hey There Delilah by Plain White T's
Kee Lee introduced this song to me, and Shuh Li also intro it to me.. :)
I like the guitar accompaniment and melody..simple and sweet song... Enjoy!

1234 by Feist
Ryan introduced this song to the choir people...
123456 9 and 10...and some people said she can't count..haha...
Amazing MV anyway! Taken in one shot!
She is a 才女 too..plays guitar and I think she composes her own songs..don't know her very well..haha..

Hokkien Gang in S'pore?!

I know that I should be concentrating on my essays. Time is really running out...and I have to push myself real hard to finish my work...

But this is going to be a short post...MUST BLOG ABT IT!

Yesterday, it was the last lesson of the Chinese module CH4246 中国地方史! (Phew, finally! But still got essay to pia.. :S)

We learnt about local history of China, meaning, learning the history of China through a certain province. And for our project, we are supposed to focus on Hokkien province! (I'm a Hokkien too..hehe)

Showcasing the largest Hokkien gang in Singapore!

Thanks to Guo Zhen for suggesting to take a photo...it will definitely serve as a fond memory for all of us...

Although I don't like year 4 (cos of the workload and my own laziness), I kinda like the class...it's quite a pity that I get to know most of them either last year or this year, but better than not knowing them at all! :)
Frankly speaking, studying in NUS, or rather, Chinese Studies, makes me feel like I'm back in St. Nicks...hahaha... notice that there are only 4 guys in the class! And 2 of them are our lecturers, Dr Ong Chang Woei(the tall and thin one behind), and Dr Koh Khee Heong(the shorter and erm, more plump one right in front)...
and the 三八-ness of the girls (ok it seems like I'm saying SN gals r 三八...haha..) really makes me feel as though I'm back to SNGS...wahahahahaha!

Life is so vulnerable

Last Monday, we received a call from my auntie, asking us to go down to the old folks home to see my grandfather for the last time. Before we can do anything, we received yet another call, saying that he has left us...

My mum was very sad, and she felt guilty, guilty of not visiting my grandfather the day before when she thought of doing it..she regretted not going into action when she thought of making a trip down to visit him..and now that he's gone, we could no longer see him alive anymore...
My heart ached so much when I watched her cry and there's nothing I can do...accept to hug and console her with whatever I can say..I must say my mother is a very strong woman..very strong...

The rest of the week for me was shuffling between home, school, and the wake. He was not very close to me, but the fact that a loved one has departed still leaves an impact in me...
The moment the body was about to be cremated was a hard time for my cousin and I. We were sobbing like nobody's business while chanting the Buddhist sutra. The feeling was simply beyond description. That kind of heartache..it feels like once a person passes away, nothing matters anymore...Why care so much about achieving or not achieving good grades? Why care so much about your love towards someone is not being reciprocated? Why care so much about having lots of money? Why care so much about being pretty or handsome? All these will be gone once you are gone...

Then today came the bad news of a friend that we(AJ Alumni Choir) have just made at AJ The Reunion concert who has just passed away...due to a sudden heart attack...
It seems that he is a healthy guy, who is still serving his NS..a musically-inclined person, who can play the guitar and drums well..
Although I am not close to him as well..we hardly talk much...it is still so shocking to know that he has left us...
We used to be looking forward to work with the Guitar Club in the near future for other concerts and performances..who will know that he will leave us so quickly?

Haiz, life is so vulnerable..treasure those around you...tell them I love you if it's something you wanna say yet can't find the courage to..hug them, kiss them, treat them better if you haven't been doing these for a long time...
Give your parents, friends, family lots of hugs...and treasure every moment you are with them..even during the times that you all quarrel...
I'm serious..you will never know what is going to happen the next minute..
I'm not being pessimistic..it's the reality..

Ah Gong and Cheston..Rest in Peace...
