新年快到了!!!

Yay! Chinese New Year is coming! Here comes the money and good food and fun games and gatherings!

Haha..so glad that this week has past, especially the dreadful Thursday...
Got to know a new classmate a few weeks ago and we even had to do a presentation in class with him, and it was rather a bad experience I would say...
Basically he's a smart and hardworking student...definitely a model student...but his EQ was not as high as his IQ...all the while he thinks he's a teacher and always tells us what to do, and refused to listen to our comments and opinions, as though it wasn't a group work kinda thing...
We thought we should just bear with it till the presentation is over, but he simply got slightly overboard as the presentation is approaching..he wanted us to send our 'scripts' to him without having the intention of sending his version to us..wat the heck?!

Anyway after criticising my work (I admit I did not do it very well, simply because I don't what he wants exactly...), my other groupmate couldn't stand his attitude anymore and decided to reply him with a really long email, telling him about how we all felt about him...
Surprisingly he came back with an email saying: "谢谢你教我做人的道理。Sorry for my arrogance...." But the next paragraph is still telling us his idea of what and how we should present our stuff in class...

The day before the presentation we decided that we had enough and we should not just follow him blindly with whatever 'instructions' he gave, so we came up with our own part of presentation, in combination with what he wanted us to do...

The fun part starts from the presentation...after presenting our parts, it was his turn to explain a certain passage (which was in classical Chinese) to the class. He told the teacher that he would take around 10-15min, but after 15min, he was not even halfway through the passge...(and the passage is only about 1 page long)...it was so obvious that the teacher and the classmates couldn't stand it anymore, and the teacher even reminded him to speak faster, as there is another group still waiting for their turn to present. The 3 of us said that we should discontinue with it and just give a summary to the rest of the passage, but he just ignore everyone and insist that explaining the whole passage was more important, and continued to explain...(can you imagine how embarrassed we were, having to face the class and the teacher? some of our classmates understand our agony and even gave us a sympathetic look...haha..)

In the end the teacher told him that it's 3 against 1 and maybe he should listen to us and let us summarised the rest of the passage, and we even have to 哄(pacify) him saying that if we still have time later we'll go back to the passage...(OMG)...
Sometimes when the teacher needs to cut him off and add something, he seems to be unaware of it and continue with his explaination...and it happened a few times...and poor Dr Lam gave a very helpless look and smile everytime this happens...haha...

This is to tell us...having high IQ really isn't a big deal after all...so what if you are smart but not able to communicate effectively with others? We are humans and humans live in a group, we all have to depend on one another at any point in our lives. Whether you can work well with people or not have to depend a lot on your sincerity and being humble as a person. Working with him also help us learn many lessons, not only academically, but more importantly, he acts as a mirror to us, by helping us check our attitude towards people, and even train our 包容性和耐性...

Anyway, I'm gonna have reunion lunch with the SN bunch tomorrow! Yay! Looking forward to it..haha...many years never stepped into Seoul Garden liao... =P

Happy New Year everyone! 猪年行大运!
